Pharmaceutical Separator

Separators are used in a large number of industries to sieve and screen solutions, dry powders and pharmaceutical-separatorgranules. These equipments are ideal for screening of primary and intermediate powders in order to remove oversized and undersized particles.

Separators ensure availability of uniform sized particles for granulation. They are used for separation of catalysts, enzymes and yeast, clarifying extraction fluids and separation of impure particles from oil and other fluids.

Separator  equipment is widely used throughout the Pharmaceutical Industry. The screening of granular material for use in tablets, capsules creates blinding and dust control problems for pharmaceutical manufacturers. For those applications where containment is an issue, pharmaceutical separator equipment plays a vital role.
Pharmaceutical Uses of Separators
  • In the processing of drug powders, pharmaceutical manufacturers have problems with stamping tablets due to the fines present in tablet granulations. This problem is solved by using separators, which remove all fines from granular material, resulting in a more better appearing and uniform tablet.
  • Before the invention of pharmaceutical separators, producers of granulized powders for drug manufacturers used a manually operated device to size pharmaceutical powders. This device was a timely, cumbersome, costly and inaccurate process. A pharmaceutical separator provides a more simple and accurate process. All powdered drugs are screened in less time with complete accuracy.
  • Manufacturers of time-release drugs require the final-product in a certain micron-size range at the end of the process. These very fine sphere-shaped powders are then delivered to medical facilities, laboratories, hospitals to be mixed with solutions for injection into patients. The drug may release into the body too quickly if the spheres are too small. On the other hand if they are too large, they may block the needle. So precision is necessary. Thus pharmaceutical manufacturers make use of separator to make the process accurate.
